3 Days & 2 Nights Excursion
This tour follows the route of the ancient caravans who once transported salt, copper and other rare commodities from the southern Sahara to Marrakech.
Suggested itinerary:
Day 1
- – Depart from the Riad after breakfast, around 8am.
- – Drive past authentic Berber villages, where we can stop and take photos. We will also stop at the Tichka pass to admire the magnificent landscape.
- – Visit the Kasbah of Telouet, former residence of the Glaoui of Marrakech, and have lunch here. In the afternoon, visit the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
- – Arrive at the Palmeraie de Skoura at the end of the day, where you will spend the night in one of two charming hotels: Lma Lodge or Sawadi. Dinner at your hotel.
Day 2
- – Tour the oasis of Skoura and its Kasbahs. This palm grove, located 40km from Ouarzazate, forms the passage that joins the road through the Valley of Dades and then Todra.
- – Drive through the Valley of the Roses and the remarkable Dades Gorges.
- – Admire the Todra Gorges and towering 300m-high cliffs along the Sahara road.
- – Arrive at camp in the afternoon, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Sahara. The final leg is by camel from Merzouga. You will watch the sun set over the Saraha and stay the night in luxurious tents with ensuite showers.
Day 3
- – Depart for Nkob after breakfast, and travel through the village of Rissani, cradle of the Alawites dynasty who currently govern the Kingdom of Morocco.
- – Continue through the Draa valley, along the mighty Jbel Saghro mountain range.
- – Visit the Kasbah of Tamnougalt, then stop for lunch on the road that connects Ouarzazate to Marrakech.
- – Arrive back at Riad l’Orangeraie around 7pm, and head to the rooftop for a delicious dinner.
