In-House Service

Dining ‘Chez Nous’ (‘At Home’) is an experience many of our guests love. Marrakech has no shortage of restaurants and hotels that serve excellent local and international cuisine. But we offer something completely different: delicious, authentic home-cooked food, served from l’Orangeraie’s kitchen. It is not a comparison of quality; it is a completely different approach.

Breakfast

Every morning, Laïla, one half of l’Orangeraie’s chef team, prepares our delicious Marrakchi breakfasts, which will be served to you at your table on the roof terrace. Your breakfast will include freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade bread and jams, homemade yoghurts and smoothies, traditional Moroccan pancakes (‘msimen’ and ‘baghrir’), pastries, eggs cooked to your preference, fresh fruit salad, and generous slices of a just-baked cake of the day.

Lunch

A light or full lunch is available upon request: sandwiches, salads or a delicious Moroccan meal.

Dinner

Nadia, who has been our chef since opening, prepares dinner every evening. She arrives at the riad at noon after spending the morning shopping, her baskets full of fresh and seasonal ingredients from the daily markets and local producers. This is her daily ritual and has been so for the last 15 years. She then goes into the kitchen to prepare lunch for the team (who often wait until 3.30pm to eat; Moroccan cuisine often requires long cooking times to reach perfection!). And then she begins to prepare guests’ evening meals.

With a unique approach to organisation, Nadia’s kitchen can only be described as ‘beautifully chaotic’. Yet guests describe her food as ‘divine in taste, and varied in style’. Even after all these years it seems miraculous that she creates such delicious food amongst such disorder, but it is because she prepares everything so carefully, with a lot of love.

Traditional entrees include a warm zaâlouk of aubergines, carrot spiked with cumin, courgettes with fresh coriander and cauliflower fritters. These are followed by Nadia’s delicious slow-cooked tagines (chicken, lamb, beef vegetable or fish), accompanied by local figs, prunes, apricots and grapes – and, of course, delicately light couscous. Dinner and lunch are prepared upon request and the pricing is as follow:

Entree of traditional Moroccan salads and dessert (16 € per person)

Tagine or Couscous, with entree of  traditional Moroccan salads and dessert (32 € per person)

Other services

Throughout your stay with us, we will be available to provide you with advice regarding trips, restaurants and sightseeing tours. We have a full concierge service available from 9am to 10pm everyday for all your bookings.

Breakfast and complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day are included in the price of the room.

Transfer from Marrakech airport: We can organise your transfer from the airport. Bargaining with the overwhelming number of taxi drivers (who often drop passengers at the wrong location) available upon arrival might be the last thing you want to do after hours of flying. The drivers we work with are efficient and knowledgeable of the busy roads around the medina, and are able to inform us on your arrival for us to arrange a porter to carry your luggage into the medina, where cars have no access. Our Riad is located 300 metres away from the nearest medina entrance.

If you want to relax after a long day wandering in the souks, we can organise a massage upon request.

We often have a lot of requests to hold special events at the Riad (birthdays, weddings, business team meetings, private gatherings). We rent out our entire riad for up to 14 guests (though a maximum of 17 guests is also possible). With the addition of Tigmino, we can welcome up to 21 guests comfortably.
