ORGANISING YOUR TRIP TO MOROCCO... Practical information
Most important religious holidays follows lunar Hegiran calandar :
Ras as-Sana : Hegiran new year, near april-mai.
Le Mouloud : celebrate the birth of the Prophète, near june-july.
Le Ramadan : fasting month. Generally between August and September (changing with Gregorian calendar), and ending with the Aïd al-Fitr where the fast is broken with a banquet celebration.
L'Aïd el-Kebir : feast of sheep commemorates Abraham's sacrifice, near march-april.

Civil life is regulated by the Gregorian calendar.
In Morocco, as opposed to other Muslim countries, the weekend consists of Saturday and Sunday. Friday is not a public holiday, but Civil and Public Service offices extend their lunch break to allow the faithful to attend prayers.

Religious life follows the Muslim calendar. It began on July 16,622.

To obtain the dates, ask for information at the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
